Basing my review on the last 3 versions of Tiger Woods for the PS3, this is another very good edition. While I have a hard time saying that it’s worth its current release price, I am enjoying the game. The only slightly negative thing I have to say about it to this point is that the graphics look a bit grainy. My 9 year old (who enjoys the game) also said the same thing to me without me mentioning it first. I also have a hard time accepting the fact that you purchase a “Masters” edition for a few more dollars, and still find that some courses need to be purchased/downloaded. Isn’t the current price enough to already have them all?

For those of you that play online and get those unrealistic scores in the mid-20 under par per round, try doing that on simulation with all settings at their most difficult. You won’t see anything close to those scores again. This difficulty level was an eye opener for me and frankly drove me nuts. Since that first experience, I’ve gotten more used to it but by no means have I come anywhere close to mastering it. What would a game be without a challenge? EA has succeeded again with this latest edition.

I have enjoyed Tiger Woods golf since the PS2. I just cracked open 2014 today and truly enjoy the new challenge of re-learning the game.

TW 2012 was a solid entry and I heard and read so many bad reviews on 2013, I saved my money and skipped it. Worth the wait, although $70 is a steep price for a video game. That and finding clear instructions on certain aspects of the game is why I give it a 4 instead of five. And terribly slow to load this year. Too much disk-based content?

Now, back up and do the math: For $70 try to play real-life golf on any one of the real-life courses in TW14. Never going to happen. So, for $2.50 or so apiece per course, I can travel the world and play where I never will and CRUSH the PGA tour pros whenever I want. Still not a bad way to spend entertainment money.

It’s just a game. They will never get it perfect. Enjoy the good parts!
