The Amazing Spider man game takes place after the movie. It follows spider man and doc conners as they try to cure a virus that is turning new york into lizards. The story is told through in game cut scenes and voice over on load times. The game assumes you seen the movie and i recommend seeing the movie to get full enjoyment out of this game. It’s almost impossible to mention Spider man’s new outing with out comparing it to Batman’s Arkham games. Both have a similar combat system, combined exploration and combat with the option of stealth. You can sneak in the shadows with the web retreat and the web rush that slows down time allows you to fast travel, latch onto enemies/objects to throw ,and for stealth take downs. While there is no free roam your free to take on missions how you want and replay if you wanna play a different style or liked it. Theres also mini challenges you can take for new xp that challenges your stealth, combat, and how long you can last spawning foes. These are not much different from main missions but serve as a pick up and play. The main missions are linear ones that play out like the other spider man games. You’ll go down linear paths to an open room were your greeted by groups of foes you can either combat or stealth take down. This will be broken up by consoles that need numbers to be put in (your given the number so its pointless to put in) vents to crawl, and things like laser grids to web past. This is where the game gets predictable. Enemies hang out in groups and are almost in the same places no matter what mission. Almost all are inside warehouses or factory looking with the same environmental hazards ,and theres only one way to stealth take down with some what bad AI which some what takes the thrill out of stealth.Combat can get a bit more cinematic than interactive spider man will finish combos with out you such as throwing a guy in a direction automatically just by you pressing the button to web pull. Bosses are the same as other games just find a weakness, exploit it ,and dodge till weakness is exposed again. Theres some glitches, one time a thug was frozen in place, they flung through walls or at times did not even notice me. overall with my complaints i still think it’s a fun game to pick up and with the combat fans of all ages will be sure to enjoy it. It’s got a good length to the story mode with extras to unlock, xp to upgrade, and the mentioned mini missions. Theres a board game like mode but it’s so unfun and uninspired it’s not even worth talking about. Just get the points needed and pick an action to do that tries to pass for a mission and hope you luck out. overall i liked it even if it gets very predictable it’s fun in the right doses. Get it if your a fan of spider man games and action games. (7.5/10)
