Spiderman: Friend or Foe - Xbox 360

FEATURED Spiderman: Friend or Foe – Xbox 360

  • Choose a sidekick from a long list of Spider-Man’s powerful allies and swap between the web-slinger and the chosen sidekicks at any time during gameplay. Each sidekick, good or evil, features their own unique attributes that will assist Spider-Man throughout the game’s challenges.
  • Fight against movie Super Villains and then, using an innovative combat system, face off against and defeat some of the Spider-Man movies’ most notorious Super Villains such as Doc Ock, Sandman and Green Goblin, and then convert them to join Spidey’s list of potential sidekicks.
  • A unique co-op mode lets friends join the game at any time and take control of Spider-Man’s sidekick. Playing in two-player co-op mode allows gamers to discover new ways to overcome obstacles and enemies.
  • As players progress through the game, battle arenas are unlocked where raw one-on-one brawling with any Super Hero or Villain can take place at any time.
  • Replay the game or experience Versus mode with a different sidekick and eventually play as Black-Suited Spider-Man (Spidey’s darker, more aggressive persona) with different powers and abilities. On different worlds, a host of secret areas containing special tokens can be discovered in the first play through, which players can go back and explore at any time.

Great game for teaming up with the kids, May 19, 2008

If I was buying this game just for myself, I’d probably rate it lower. It’s sort of a simpled down version of Marvel Alliance. Graphics, gameplay, and plot are all more cartoony. There are less characters, less stat tweaking, less control.

However from the perspective of a dad looking for some quality time with the 7 year old boy, it’s a great game. It’s simple enough that he can master it, but varied enough that I’m not bored with the gameplay. He’s been particularly tickled with the variety of characters and enjoys trying out each new team mate and their powers as you unlock them.

Our 5 year old girl played it for a while and did have some fun, but eventually grew frustrated with it. Your mileage may vary, but that appears to be about the cut off.

Essentially you start off with Spiderman and a few sidekick characters. One person must play Spiderman, but you can select which sidekick to bring along with you for each mission. As you collect coins, you can buy upgrades to the character’s powers and stats. In each zone (made up of 4 missions), you can unlock one or two new sidekicks. Each mission takes about 20-30 minutes to complete.

If you’ve got younger kids, you enjoyed the Lego Star Wars games, or Marvel Alliance, this game is probably a good choice.

The first poster was absolutely right.

First, the graphics are good but its just another game based on the same controlls that every other top down combat game is based on. I think its neat to play the villians for a change but really doesn’t present anything new or novel.

If you have Ultimate Alliance or Justice League this will feel quite the same.

On the other hand, my kids love it and don’t know or care about its plain-ness so that makes it a winner for me.
