Indebted to the wrong people, and with his life on the line, hired gun Booker DeWitt has only one opportunity to wipe his slate clean. An Amazing Progression to the Series…, March 26, 2013

To sum it up, this game is amazing. Absolutely amazing. It’s fascinating. It’s truly gruesome. It’s fun. It’s unique.
The series itself is mysterious and this game is no different my friends.

This game is a masterpiece. You have to love a game that is built not to please everyone, or to appeal to the biggest demographic of the lowest common denominator. Bioware Infinite is about a development team trying to realise their creative vision. This is a very fun shooter, but by no means is it the kind of shooter that is going to inspire thousands of hours of shooting. So in some sense it is not a stella shooter, and it isn’t trying to be one.

This game is not competing with Call of Duty. Nor is it a role playing game. The roles are all set. It’s fairly short, its mostly linear, and its rather simply a game that focuses on Story. In many ways it is thus a pretty short, linear and LIMITED game. It’s more or less a single session story-game. But WHAT a story! It’s great! Bioshock Infinite creates a small world but it builds it with huge passion and care. It has so many philosophical angles and social issues oozing out of every pore, it will definitely give gamers things to think about.

The graphics are so mesmerizing, I almost forget to move on with the game play. The setting, the story, the way Elizabeth interacts with you–I am stunned and in awe–This game was fun without being frustrating in combat and challenges– PERFECTION–PURE PERFECTION.

The mechanics are the same with some refinements but nothing mind blowing..and that’s ok. The wheel didn’t need to be reinvented.

Pros: -Beautiful artistic graphics and memorable soundtrack. -As atmospheric as the original Bioshock. -One of the darkest stories I have ever seden in a videogame. -Mind-boggling ending -Elizabeth is the best AI partner in gaming history. -Skylines feel like rollercoasters in the sky, don’t get queazy! -Combining vigors in combat is pure ecstasy. Cons: -Handyman fights can get tedious. -Some glitches where you can get stuck in terrain etc. (fairly rare) -Elizabeth can be a little annoying sometimes with her over eagerness in and out of combat. -The game ends….14 hours for my first playthrough.

Ultimately this is an absolutely outstanding game; a new benchmark for game developers to strive for… have no hesitation if you are considering wether or not to buy this game… this is pure art expressed masterfully. It’s short though but it is sweet. Every once in a while a game comes out that blows your socks off. This game goes above in beyond in all areas. Superior story telling, combat, atmosphere, music. You feel immersed in the world and unable to quit playing. The details in the areas show the care given by the development team. This game was not rushed and will serve as proof to what games can accomplish. This game accomplishes what Half-Life did for its time period. I think Ken Levine said it best when referred to games as a better medium than movies and books because you pilot them. You get to participate and experience them. This is nothing short of a masterpiece and should be purchased by everyone.

Normally I would never give a game 10/10, but Bioshock Infinite ticks all the boxes. Just like the first game did. Infinite has exciting gameplay, with various ways to approach encounters. You have Elizabeth there to help. She gives you ammo, salt and health when you need it. She can also open rips in the world to give you the edge in combat. The graphics are amazing, mixed with excellent use of lighting and sound. the world is truly amazing. I love the way that it is specifically a different experience to the previous games. There you are stuck in Rapture, a claustrophobic, dark and broken city. Here we have a huge open beaming world, with light. It’s still terribly evil though All that aside this game is absolutely amazing and If a game is better than this in the next 2 years I will be very surprised. GOTY for sure.

I will update along the way if anything changes like I do in my other reviews.

100% Worth it. Game is amazing, figure is sculpted so well and the wings fit together so snugly. I can’t begin to say enough good things about the figure. Packaging is great and your figure will not break. Artbook is small and cute, not the same as the one you can buy separately.

This review will describe observations regarding the PC version of the Bioshock Infinite: Ultimate Songbird Edition product. In addition to the contents, I also include some observations about the initial experience of using the software. My grade of this product has to do with my satisfaction of the quality of the included content. This is not a grade of the game itself.

QUICK NOTE on the game: The game configuration options include subtitles for dialog and an adjustable field of view for those of you who get motion sickness from first person shooters. It also natively supports gamepads, displaying an Xbox 360 gamepad diagram when viewing the controller options.

    === PACKAGE CONTENTS ===

    … OUTER BOX
As of this writing, dimensions published by Amazon are incorrect.

    Height: 11 5/8 inches
    Width: 9 7/8 inches
    Depth: 10 inches

Weight reported by UPS: 5.50 pounds

The Ultimate Songbird Edition box ships with no outer cellophane. The top seal is rectangular and the bottom seal is circular. Both seals collapse easily into pieces when removal is attempted.

The box has 3 rectangular openings, located on the top and sides. There is a larger squarish opening on the front. These openings are not covered with colorless plastic. Instead, they expose the plastic windows of same-sized openings for the Songbird statue, encased within it’s own box.

The pictures used to decorate the box show the main characters as they appear from the television commericals, but the faces of these resemblences don’t match the game all that much.

Hidden behind the Songbird’s box is a cardboard tray that holds all the other items in this edition.

    … SONGBIRD STATUE (BOXED)

Presented in it’s own box. The box has a red distressed motif where each of the edges look convincingly faded and discolored. The packaging is made to look as though it were made as a product by Fink Manufacturing, the fictious company within the game narrative.

The statue base is held in place with twist ties and a colorless, plastic tray. The wings are separate, but mounted in the plastic tray behind the statue itself, protected with a bit of foam sheet.

The statue looks like the press photos, with lots of detail though a bit monochromatic. I had the impression before shipping that the statue would have semi-transparent eyes, but the eyes are painted areas.

    .
    .
    … ITEM TRAY
The tray hidden behind the Songbird’s box is matte black, holding all the other items in this edition. This tray holds the game clamshell, book, lithograph envelope and other slips in paper in one tray, and the other objects are held in their own spots alongside in other separate openings of the tray.

    .
    … GAME DISCS and CLAMSHELL

The copy of the game that comes with this package is the standard edition of the game. The plastic DVD clamshell, the manual and the 3 DVDs are all just like the standard edition, with the clamshell wrapped in cellophane. None of the material in this clamshell gives an indication that it was purchased as part of the Ultimate Songbird Edition. The DVDs are stacked on top of one another inside. They are not protected from one another in separate trays. Not impressed.

    Contents:
    * black plastic DVD clamshell with a DVD spindle tall enough to hold 3 DVDs stacked on top of each other.
    * color manual with Steam key for game on rear cover, bottom
    * season pass DLC advertisement
    * clamshell insert is reversible. The motif of the other side has an old-time packaging feel in the same red, distressed appearance as the Songbird model box (time period of the story)

… … INSTALLER BEHAVIOR and INITIAL USE

The SETUP.EXE on the first DVD will invoke and update Steam. The installer will ask for the keycode prior to game installation. Once the keycode from the manual’s back page is accepted, the game will add to your Steam library with the following title (if purchased in North America):

    “Bioshock Infinite Retail (NA)”

Though the library entry in Steam will not denote the fact that the Ultimate Songbird Edition was purchased, please see the note under EXTRAS – UPGRADE PACK further below.

The installer will state that the game will take up 17350 megabytes of space.

Once the installer begins to copy files, I can confirm that it is taking content from the game DVDs, not downloading it from the internet, specifically prompt for the other 2 discs as expected.

Launching the game from the Steam client will prompt for the user to pick either the game itself or a hardware benchmark utility. Picking either option will invoke a Windows administrator authentication request on the very first launch attempt. Allowing this to proceed will then run through installation of 4…
